Downtown Parking vs. Public Transportation in New Orleans, LA?
My boyfriend just got a great job in downtown NOLA at one of the major hotels, but they don't provide parking. We've been looking around and the parking lots all charge between $130-$200 a month, which is about $40-$110 more a month than we'd like to spend. So, now we are looking at public...

Safety is OK.
You need to ride the bus route in question and ask the other riders if the schedule can be depended on.
The least expensive parking downtown is at the AmTrak/Greyhound station (which is at 1001 Loyola Avenue and may not be close to where your bf works). Check with them for a monthly rate if that might work.
I know people in New Orleans who use public transportation to their jobs all the time. It's not a subway, so I'd allow plenty of time - traffic is unpredictable. With gas prices the way they are, I'm sure lots more people will be using the bus. I love the street car, but I'd go for what's most convenient.
give it a try - sounds like the bus is your best and cheapest option.

the streetcar is perfect but like u said, a little far. try taking the bus closer to the streetcar. or just try taking the bus. but a few words of advice for the bus riders: "BRING HAND SANATIZER!!!"
Go with the bus, but if you're running behind schedule, don't expect the bus to get you there in time.
